How You Bin

August 4, 2014
The title of this blog post sounds like a friendly greeting, doesn’t it? How you been, buddy? Actually, I’m not going to talk about social etiquette or slangy grammar, but about how to track inventory in multiple locations by bins. Bins for storing inventory, Fishbowl Inventory BlogBins are exactly what they sound like. They are containers that hold parts, products, and other items that a company uses, sells, and needs to track. You can stack bins, put them side by side, and organize products in them by size, type, popularity, etc. Fishbowl is an inventory tracking solution that allows you to find and store inventory by location, including by bins. The Fishbowl Wiki article entitled “Location” notes: “A location can be as simple or complex as you desire. If you are set up with bins, the Location Module can mimic those… When you first begin using Fishbowl, you will find that Fishbowl has a default Location Group called Main with the following default locations: Receiving, Shipping, and Stock. You have the option to keep these locations, rename them, or add to them.” With Fishbowl’s tracking features, you can put together a detailed map of each of your warehouses. That way, you can make sure you’re always restocking bins when they get low on products, and you’ll always know where to put incoming products and where to find them when it comes time to pick, pack, and ship them off to their final destination. If you have questions about exactly how Fishbowl works and what other impressive inventory tracking features it has, sign up for an inventory software demo and see all the ways Fishbowl can help your company. Then if someone asks you how your inventory tracking is going, you can respond, “Never bin better.”
