As a child I was commonly asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Just like any other kid, I would use the standard response “A firefighter, a teacher, maybe a doctor.”
Never once would I respond, “I want to sell inventory control software.”
Wait, did I disappoint that kid that wanted to save dogs and kids from burning fires? Would I look at my adult self and say, “What are you doing? Where is your stethoscope?”
No, I think not. Why not? I’ll tell you. I sell software called Fishbowl Inventory, which lets a company automate their inventory control and manufacturing processes.
In the online presentations I conduct every day, I often hear the same old stories.
“I have to ask the boss if something is in stock.” Or, “I do a daily count of inventory to see what I need to order.” Or even nightmarish stories of hand entering inventory in spreadsheets.
I work daily with companies that are running their business with a pen and notepad, or even a roll of paper towels for inventory control (True freaking story).
Sorry. Let me get back to my original point, why did I not disappoint my younger self? The reason is Fishbowl Inventory changes lives.
Not to be cheesy, but it’s true. I have talked to some of our customers who sing praises to Fishbowl Inventory for changing their business for the better. Their amazing testimonies include users getting instant information that took hours to get before, and “It now takes me minutes to order stock instead of an entire day.” Here’s my favorite, “I no longer need the staff I had before and downsized by four people.”
I sell software that I am truly proud of, and I feel I am on a hunt to help businesses succeed.
So finally, yes, I would be proud of my adult self. No, I don’t rush in after people in burning buildings, but I do rush in to save businesses, and that is close enough for me.
I’d love to help you get started when you sign up for a free trial of Fishbowl Inventory.
