500 Bikes Donated to Charity in Honor of Two Fallen Bicyclists

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since Fishbowl employee Bryan Byrge and his friend John Coons were killed by a vehicle while biking in the early morning hours of March 12, 2014. Bryan was an avid bicyclist, participating in many races and other outdoor events during his life. He lived by the motto “Live Big” because life is too short to live timidly.

Donating Bikes

On the one-year anniversary of Bryan’s and John’s death, one of Bryan’s sons, Braxton, organized an Eagle Project in their honor. The young man had hoped to collect 50 bikes to donate, but he wound up getting nearly 10 times that number as members of the community rallied around the families of their fallen friends. The donated bikes will be repaired and refurbished by a local organization and then given to families in need.

Love on Two Wheels

And this isn’t even the end of the service project. The Byrges and Coons are now accepting donations of bicycles at any time through a charity called “Love on Two Wheels.” A lot of good has come in spite of all the grief over losing these two good men. It looks like their memory and legacy will live on for many years to come.
